Paul Donovan - Producer
Paul cut his teeth producing and production managing award winning short films before his debut feature film, The Last Bus Home in 1997. This was a baptism of fire but when himself and uncle Michael realised that no one else would have them they decided to set up the family business, Grand Pictures in 2000. Paul has since produced another three feature films: Mapmaker, Dead Long Enough and Wide Open Spaces.
Paul’s interest in comedy dates back to being doorman in the early days of the famous Comedy Cellar. Paul has gone on to produce a number of television comedies including two series of the sketch show Stew, Ding Dong Denny O'Reilly, School Run and most recently Val Falvey, T.D. and Trivia for RTE.
Paul and Michael exec produce each other's productions thereby benefitting from the other's wisdom and having someone else to blame. Paul is a graduate of EAVE 1995, ACE 1999, was Ireland’s 'Producer on the Move' at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival and is on the Board of Screen Producers Ireland. He believes that Ireland, Everton or Shelbourne will one day repay his long suffering support by winning a trophy.
